North Korea Speed Making Ballistic Submarine Submarine

WASHINGTON - North Korea (North Korea) speeds up its first operational ballistic missile submarine. This is reflected in satellite images taken this month from a North Korean naval shipyard.

The North Korea-based North Korea monitoring agency, North38, cited an image taken on November 5 showing aggressive activity at North Korea's main shipyard, Sinpo South

"The presence of what appears to be part of a submarine's hull in the yard shows the construction of a new submarine, possibly a SINPO-C ballistic missile submarine as a follow-up to the current experimental ballistic missile submarine SINPO," the North38 report said as quoted by Reuters on Friday (11/17/2017).

The report says throughout 2017 there has been continuous movement of parts and components into and out of two parts next to buildings in the middle of the shipyard.

It is said, the picture of November 5 shows two large circular objects that could be part of the submarine's hull. It is said that this looks bigger than North Korea's ROMEO class submarine.

The pilot image shows advanced testing of the missile release mechanism of the submarine. However, the report says there is no activity that can be seen as preparation for a new missile test launched from the submarine.

North Korea has been working to develop nuclear-charged missiles capable of reaching the United States (US). This triggered an international crisis in which US President Donald Trump said that all options were considered, including military action.

North Korea is also expected to be working on a solid missile to launch from a submarine.

Last month, The Diplomat magazine quoted a US government source as saying that Uncle Sam's military intelligence had detected a new diesel-electric submarine under construction at Sinpo and called it Sinpo-C. It is said that the submarine is probably the successor to North Korea's larger experimental missile submarine.

North Korea has carried out dozens of missile tests this year and the last and largest nuclear test took place on September 3. However, the last two months have experienced calm and have not tested a missile since launching a missile over Japan on September 15th.

Another article at The Diplomat last month quoted a US government source as saying that North Korea had tested new solid fuel engines around October 15 and October 21. US intelligence officials declined to comment on the matter.
